How We Rocketed to the Top of Amazon

So did you enjoy that last video of Jason and Matt on how to launch your product to the top of Amazon’s charts? It’s a simple yet effective approach that makes all the difference between being average and being a top seller.

And it’s not an exaggeration, either. Six months ago, I had virtually zero experience on selling physical products, whether online or in a store.

Joyfuel Cacao Powder made it to Amazon’s page one in search ranking, less than 2 months after my partner and I launched our first product.

We put into practice what we learned from the Amazing Selling Machine (ASM) course, focusing on three things to propel our Joyfuel rocket to first page ranking:

  1. Creating a Really Great Product Page

    • Drives people to your page

    • We used high quality photos, spent a good deal of time writing really good copy.

    • We tried to understand what people are looking for: researched on other product pages, read through comments on competitors pages to know what people like and don’t like.

    • We looked for keywords that most people used when researching for products similar to our cacao powder, and made sure we had them on our product page

  1. Having a Great Product

    • Packaging – While we didn’t spend a lot of time on package design, we made sure to choose a distinctive color that would stand out among other similar products on Amazon, one that is picked out easily by the eye. We also looked for quality packaging, the type that spoke of premium quality.

    • Niche – We chose to sell a product with unique attributes compared to some competitors. Joyfuel cacao powder is fair trade, raw, organic – few other cacao products can claim these.

  1. Running Ads on Amazon

    • Sends more people to your page

    • Makes Amazon increase your ranking because they benefit by you benefiting

    • Just doing this one main ad campaign helped our product to rise to 1st page in search ranking

All these were taught in the ASM course. The content of the materials were very clear, with examples provided to illustrate exactly what you needed to do each step of the way.

Most importantly, we benefited from the support of the ASM community. From them we learned how to stretch the limits of what’s possible to do on Amazon to get the most from your page, “tricks of the trade” that go beyond the original content of the materials we received from ASM.

It was an unbelievably easy and quick learning experience! Oh, and we are having fun with it too. :)
